VL Commodore Roll Cage Upgrade – Funny Car Hoop & 30-Bar Fabrication for 7-Second Safety

Our good friend Mick from @edgeautomotiveandperformance recently brought in his purpose-built VL Commodore drag car for a serious roll cage upgrade. The goal? Enhanced safety and NHRA compliance as he chases that elusive 7-second pass down the drag strip.

We started by removing three outdated bars and replacing them with a full funny car hoop and an impressive 30 additional bars of precision roll cage fabrication. Every weld and angle was carefully planned to improve driver protection while maintaining structural integrity and performance under high-G conditions.

This upgraded chromoly roll cage setup not only meets safety regulations but gives Mick the peace of mind he needs as he pushes the limits on the track. We can’t wait to see this beast back out there setting new PBs and making some serious noise.
